Can students design a breakthrough Dementia app?

Finding ways to improve the lives of those living with Dementia is a goal that spans multiple fields and generations. In recent weeks, Glasgow Caledonia University hosted a 48-hour “jamming session” for young video game designers with the challenge to create software that could solve problems and make life easier for Dementia patients and their carers.
Alzheimer’s Scotland supported the venture and provided guidance for development of apps that would specifically meet the needs of people with Dementia.
Joyce Gray, deputy director of development at Alzheimer Scotland, said: “We are very excited by the collaboration and are greatly looking forward to working with this hub of creative talent.”
Roughly 100 designers accepted the challenge, and created an astounding 10 beta versions of apps and games designed to help with various aspects of Dementia such as recognizing family members and remembering routine tasks.
We’d like to congratulate everyone who took part, and hope that many of your creations make it to public release in the near future!
