Good Care Week 2013

Good Care Week is an awareness campaign, run by Care Talk, which aims to celebrate and promote excellence in social care and influence Government policy, surrounding social care. This will be done by the coming together of local initiatives to create a national presence and therefore generating greater awareness and exerting greater influence on Government policies. Some of the campaign aims include:
• To champion excellence in social care
• To get members of the social care workforce, service users and families to sign up to the campaign and become a Care Talk Champion, promoting excellence in the sector.
• To galvanise support locally via regional media
• For social care to be recognised as a professional career
The campaign is running from the week beginning 22nd April 2013, is UK wide and will be an annual event, occurring every April.

What can you do to get involved?
The campaign asks that you share your ideas, to help raise the profile of social care locally so that colleagues throughout the sector can emulate this in their own communities. Any stories, examples, suggestions and comments will feature on the Good Care Week website as well as the Care Talk Magazine.

Other suggestions include writing to you local MP, asking them to help raise the status of social care in the community and formally support the campaign.

You can also register to become a Care Talk Champion, which gives you access to information and materials, to help you to promote excellence in social care and raise awareness of Good Care Week.

The Good Care Week campaign is supported by TV personalities, Fiona Phillips and Jane McDonald as well as leading names in the care sector.
