Social Care Hour Twitter Chat
Social Care Hour is a new, weekly Twitter chat bringing together people from all over the care sector to discuss “everything that’s going on in and around Social Care.” It’s a great way to connect with others in the industry and get a diverse range of perspectives.
Dementia care, staff training and recruitment and empathy were all hot topics this week.
We asked participants if they thought that further training for carers or hiring specialty nurses was the best investment for care homes. There were some interesting responses, but what was clear was that more important than any training was a carer’s genuine sense of values and passion for their job.

Also discussed was the need to acknowledge the great work that carers do and continue to promote and reward them.
